Understand the Problem, Process, and Information

In Chapter 6 we explore the fourth phase of the LAUNCH Cycle: Understand the Information.

U: Understanding the Process or Problem
This leads to understanding the process or problem through an authentic research experience. They might conduct interviews or needs assessments, research articles, watch videos, or analyze data.

Here are some questions to ask after reading Chapter 6:

  • What does student-centered research look like?
  • How can inquiry-based research fuel the understanding of a problem or process?
  • What are the other ways (besides reading) that students can begin to research at all levels of school?
  • Are there areas in your curriculum or schedule where you can begin to infuse this third phase of the LAUNCH Cycle? What about in your own professional practice?
